Sunday : 30 minutes

The Super Momma 11:54 PM 0 Comments
My weekend is intended for general cleaning of the apartment and attend mass with J and the kids. But since this weekend I had rhinitis and was so sick and too lazy to clean our apartment, I just watched tv with the kids and J the whole morning. The plan was to hear mass after the kids took a nap, buy some shoes and watch lights and sounds at Ayala Triangle afterwards. The kids woke up late from their nap around 6p.m. so we went straight to Landmark to buy some shoes for the fashion show (which I will blog later on).

I asked J to help me look for beige and decent looking shoes. The kids are so grumpy and little girl wants to be carried while I'm looking around for shoes and on the other hand my little boy wants to remove his shoes also and wants to try some shoes from the stalls. I don't know if I'll get pissed or laugh at him because he is making sense already. Anyhow, after looking around I found a perfect beige wedge and I immediately fell in love with it. It was also J's choice so we bought it and went off the church to hear mass.

Because we were in a hurry to catch up the last mass at Greenbelt I wasn't able to check the kids' bag for the completeness of their paraphernalias (toys). I just grabbed food and drinks for them in case they get hungry. After almost 30 minutes and halfway of the mass my little boy got rowdy again and bored so we decided to go to the lights ans sounds show at the Ayala Triangle hoping to provide a solution to his grumpiness. And we went.

It was 8:30p.m. already and we only got 30 minutes to watch and enjoy the show. It was packed with alot of people who patiently waited for the last show to start. When we got off the lift, the park was still dark but when the show started, my little boy began to cry ended up with parents not enjoying the light show. Another fail! Imagine my son carried by J while he was taking our photos. He stopped crying immediately after the show ended.
I'd like to share our photos last year, December 2011

One scared baby boy

After the show we decided to go home because the kids are grumpy and so we can have rest. When we were on our way out J came past the Ayala exit where we're supposed to get off so at the end of the corner parking lot he switched his hazard light and maneuver the car and did reverse almost near another car behind us. When he drove near the exit, I saw from the rear mirror an arrogant man went out of his car and pointing at Bubu. I asked J to pull over and talk to the man. It took us 30 minutes of our time and the kids inside the car are already rowdy and bored despite the dvd continuously playing their favorite show. It ended up with the man didn't give out his complete name and got J's number instead. He was telling J that his car was hit by Bubu. When he pointed out to the side where Bubu allegedly hit him turns out to be dust (Bubu didn't get a carwash yet that time) and no traces of his car paint or any scratch on it. What they agreed upon was if it doesn't come off with buffing he will contact J for the detailing of his car. Up to this time, he hasn't called J yet of the matter. I guess there was no really alleged incident happen and the man was just mainly fault finding.

As we are reminiscing the whole day inside the car while driving home, we saw a cab run off the plant box on the corner of highway. Few by standers are pooling around the area already. Good thing the cab doesn't have passengers or else a total disaster!

What a long day. How was your Sunday so far?

To my little girl...

8 months
It was more than a year ago when you came as a sweet surprise to mama and papa. It was not in our plan that I get pregnant again and yet you came. At first, I was sad because I had plans of working after your kuya will turn a year old that time. Mama will work again and maybe will have another baby after 2 years. But then you came, all I have to do was to accept the fact that you are in mama's tummy already. I prayed hard so that you will be healthy just like kuya. Mama tried to work when you were just weeks old. But then I guess you wanted me to rest so when I had a check up with my OB she asked me to rest until it's time for you to come out of my tummy. You were a threatened abortion when you were weeks old. You wanted me to rest like a princess and mama was so lazy that time unlike when I was pregnant with kuya. I had to take uterine relaxants that time. I asked you to be strong for me and hold on and you did. I know you are such a good girl even if you are so demanding at times. When we went home to lola at the province you scared me again because of the contractions. You asked me to rest. I know you are stressed also. When it was time for you to come out you were still hesitant to go out of my tummy. The doctors had to push you out of my tummy even if it was cut open. I know you don't want to leave your comfort zone but it was time to see you and finally to be with you. I was able to kiss you and yes mama can feel your presence already.

Now few hours after you were born, you scared me again like you did when you were weeks old. I know I was liable for you getting infection but I was scared for you. You didn't have to go through alot of needles and antibiotics with your age but still you hold on and I know you are one brave little girl. You fought for me, kuya and papa.

After 5 days of you staying at the hospital I was so excited to see you and finally pick you up but then I had hypertension that time. It was my highest bp on the record. But still nothing can stop mama to finally be with you, your lola took care of it. She gave me anti hypertensive and finally few hours after waiting it went down.

Now you are 10 months old, I still can't believe how time flies that I can't imagine two teeth already erupted. I can hear you cry out for my name and how you cry when you couldn't see me. I love it also when every morning all you wanted was for me to carry you and cuddle you instead of papa. I know you love me baby girl.

I hope you become a strong willed woman just like me. I will protect you the best way I can and take good care of you. Please remain as a sweet little girl for me. I love you so much baby AJ.

Love always,

mama

Pasta Sardines

The Super Momma 10:24 PM 0 Comments
Today is a lazy day for me. Due to the extreme heat outside I'd rather spend the day at home doing a little "me time". Since I am too lazy to cook for our dinner, I thought of a meal which only takes few minutes to cook and prepare. Aside from being easy to prepare it is also a budget meal since all of the ingredients cost only more or less than php50. It's a simple lazy meal with a twist.

I used the merienda pack of Del Monte Spaghetti in this recipe which costs only php20. Because we are a small family opt to use smaller amount food packaging. A can of tomato sardines which costs php10 or more and the usual spices onion and garlic. Cheese is optional if you like to add a little color to your pasta.
(pardon for the poor quality of photo used only a phone cam)

Ingredients:
  • Del Monte merienda pack Spaghetti
  • 1 small can tomato sardines
  • salt to tase
  • pepper to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • grated cheese
  • Lemon to taste (optional)
Procedure:
  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  • Saute the garlic and onion into olive oil and add the sardines. Drain the pasta and mix it with the sardines. Stir the pasta with the sardines to allow the absorption of the flavors.
  • Serve and top with cheese and squeeze a lemon to taste.
Feel free to try my recipe. How about you? What's your lazy meal?

Till next.

Potato ang Egg Salad

Potato ang Egg Salad

The Super Momma 5:22 PM 0 Comments

One of mommy duties is to do the grocery. When I went the other day saw some baby potatoes on the vegetable section and thought of making some salad out of it. So far J loved this and even asked me to make some more.

I will be sharing my own recipe of potato and egg salad. I usually use baby potatoes for this recipe since it is very easy to cook and easy to prepare because you will just slice the potato clean in half. Made some modifications to achieve a mixture of taste from the sweet to salty and sour flavor of this salad. Here's the recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 500 grams baby potatoes, sliced in half
  • 3 medium eggs, boiled, sliced in cubes
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup pickle relish
  • 1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
Procedure:
  •  Cook baby potatoes in a large pot enough to cover it. Usually takes about 10-15minutes. Make sure not to over cook it. One tip after boiling the potatoes is to pour ice cold water to stop the boiling process.
  • Mix mayonnaise with the potatoes all the ingredients. Serve chilled.

Feel free to try the recipe. What's your favorite salad? Share your thoughts.

Till my next post.

When I got pregnant one of my major problem was dry skin. Even if how much I hydrate(more than 1.5l of liquid/day), few hours later it would itch due to dryness. Tried a lot of soaps from the organic ones and gentle skin cleansers available in the market still gave me same unlikeable results. It was during that time that my tita who happened to be my OB gave me samples of Cetaphil cleanser. I tried it on and gave me excellent results. I don't have heavy and dry feeling after washing my face and also my body. Plus it doesn't have a strong scent that would cause irritation if your skin is sensitive and allergic to harmful ingredients.

When I gave birth to my babies, the hospital used a different cleanser it came to a point when my baby girl had redness all over her face that I thought it was due to allergic reaction from her antibiotics that time. When I asked her pedia about it, she said it was due to dermatitis which is caused by the cleanser they are using. So from then on, I used Cetaphil for her and even for my first born. Their skin is healthy and never a time that occurred dryness.

My two day old baby girl notice the redness of her cheeks

My 9 month old baby girl (9months use of Cetaphil)

There are pros and cons of this Cetaphil cleanser which I will list below.

    Pros:
    • Doesn't leave a sticky feeling your skin after using.
    • Doesn't have heavy feeling after washing your skin.
    • Doesn't leave dryness and remains hydrated after long hours.
    • Doesn't have strong smell that would cause skin irritation.
    • The liquid doesn't contain artificial colors also that could cause irritation/allergies.
    • Can easily be rinsed off from your skin.
    Cons:
    • Well I can only list one con, which is the price. It's a bit pricey for a 60ml skin cleanser which costs about less than php100 from drugstores. But no matter how costly it is I won't compromise my skin as well as my babies.
Now it's your turn to have an effortless soft and healthy skin. Visit Bebengisms blog for a chance to win Cetaphil's skin treats promo. Yes that easy! Just follow the instructions for you to win the get away from Cetaphil and win Cetaphil products. For more details visit Joel Andrada's twitter account and Cetaphil's fan page here. Goodluck!

How about you? Have you tried Cetaphil? Share your thoughts.

    Till my next post.

    Trick or Treat 2012

The Super Momma 2:20 PM 0 Comments
Two weeks ago we went on trick or treating with the kids at Island Cove. I was scouting for events here in the metro and I came across Mommy Practicality's blog for Halloween events in Manila and decided to join the event there.

As a first time mom I am excited for my kids since this would be their/my first time to join Trick or Treat events. I have been meaning to join last year but since I was 7 months pregnant that time with my little girl decided not to join instead.

A week before the said event, we bought costumes for the kids and due to time constraint, we ended up buying whatever available costume in SM department stores. I got my little girl a pink fairy costume and batman costume for my little boy. The scheduled event starts at 3p.m. I am crossing my fingers for no grumpy babies since it is their nap time.

When we arrived at the area, I was so surprised to see alot of kids and they look cute in their costumes. Here are some of our photos:

Island Cove hall packed with participants

    Mama, Jolo and AJ

    Go See 2012

The Super Momma 1:33 PM 0 Comments
I have been a subscriber of smart parenting magazine for four months now and ever since it gave me alot of ideas on how to raise kids, money matters, relationships and also events. I have been meaning for my son to join a model search for him to experience it at an early age. As I was browsing my first copy of the magazine and I saw a model search for kids and I immediately told hubby that I wanted Jolo to join the said event.

The event started around 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and we arrived at almost 12 noon. A lot of parents participated and some are even from the provinces. They have a lot of activities and surprises for the kids. They have magicians, sponge bob and give-a ways in between. They also have face painting, photobooth and free consult with their in house pediatrician. We got number 191, decided to stroll around the mall and wait for our turn since there are about 100 kids before us. Yes, that alot!

It was almost 3 p.m. and my baby boy is already sleepy and grumpy and did alot of ways to distract him already. It was already his turn and I thought he wouldn't come up the stage and even smile for the photographers but I was surprised that he actually did and even waved to the judges! I am a very proud mom!

We gave him a little treat for a job well done. His all time favorite, toy cars!

    Till my next post.

Yesterday I was nominated by Happy Mommy Adventures for Leibster Award (by the way Thank you). Just like her I got curious of the origin of this award. When I hit the search button of google, it popped a lot of blogs. It got me thinking, it's like a sort of chain letter that you will get to answer every question the person tagged you but in a manner that it will encourage you to blog more often. The award originated mainly in Germany which the criteria was a little different. The blog you should tag must have at least 3,000 readers but now it came down to at least less than 200 readers. Anyhow, still I am thankful because it's my first nomination as a newbie blogger.

Here are Happy Mommy Adventures questions:
    • What's your go-to/comfort food?
    Me: Pastries.
    • Any weird habits?
Me: Yes. When I was a toddler I have this comfort object which is my favorite pillow. It used to be a little flabby but as I age, it got so super thin because I keep on pinching it that way soothes me. I still have it now but I learned to let go of it before I gave birth to my first born. Now I have favorite bolster pillow which I pinch every night. *wink*
      • How do you balance your time between work/school and blogging/writing?
Me:Right now i'm a full time mom to my kids so I basically own much of my time but still I feel like time passes by so quickly that I wanted the hours to extend and finish my chores ASAP! I get to have a "me-time" where I squeeze in blogging, and household chores when the kids are asleep.
      • Your favorite place?
      Me: Our room.
        • How do you de-stress?
Me: Window shop, pamper myself and blog.
        • What's the best advice anyone has ever given you?
Me: Life is too short for petty dramas. Live your life happily while you can.
          • What's the best advice you could or have given anyone?
Me: Hold your head high don't let anybody pull you down. Keep your feet on the ground.
          • Who's your favorite author and why?
Me: James Patterson, I love thriller books and I love the way he twists the story.
            • How has writing changed/improved your perspective in life?
Me: I love sharing experiences and petty things which I always do to my friends. When a friend of mine encouraged to start up a blog, that is when I get to share to people I don't know. That there are million people out there I can share my parenting, beauty tips, travel tips and etc.
            • One "New Year's Resolution" thing that you always list down but never get to commit to.
Me: To do YOGA. Right now it will be on my list again since I don't know how to squeeze it in between a full time mom without nanny.
            • What's your definition of "Passion". What is your passion?
Me: Passion is something you love to do and you fully dedicate yourself into. My passion is motherhood. Indeed having babies are blessing. Ever since I became a mom I have never dedicated my life to my babies. Though it's a very hard job I enjoy every single day of it.

            11 Things about me:
            1. I'm a mushy person.
            2. I'm the eldest in the family.

            THE RULES

As promised and a long overdue post, I am sharing you our Vigan trip last month with hubby and the kids, together with my mom and brother. After our 7 months stay in the province finally we are back in Manila. It was very timely that hubby has a travel to Vigan so we went along with him. It was raining hard that time so it took us 10 hours to arrive in Vigan. We left Manila around 2 p.m. and arrived at the hotel around 10p.m. and I was so hungry already. We had dinner on the corner of our hotel (forgot the name of the resto). We had their famous delicacies.

The next morning we went on a Kalesa ride to stroll around the city. It costs about 200 php and the Kutsero will show us around.

Our first stop was the Vigan Museum.

This is where they bury the dead during the ancient times.

Pardon my face but hubby asked me to do that. Hmf.
