Months before I gave birth, I have been skipping on washing my hair for days or even a week. I felt that too much washing has been the cause of its dryness and losing its natural oil. At first, I was quite hesitant to try it until I realized that it has been healthy this way. So the shampoo has been sitting in the loo for weeks untouched and I use it only when needed. Afterall, I rarely go out to make it accumulate too much dirt.

Three months after I gave birth, the hairfall has been a major problem. Due to hormonal factors, my hair became extremely dry which causes the tugging when combed as well as the inevitable hairfall.  So I have been really careful which products to use to my locks. I wouldn't want to resort to getting my hair rebonded since the hair growth from previous postpartum hairfall is only halfway down the length of my hair.

When we went shopping on one of the duty free malls in Clark, I saw one product that intrigued me. Honestly, it was the very first time I saw it and I immediately picked it up. My intention was only to try it because it was new to me. I went home only to regret that I will never be going back to that place again to get more. Why? I fell in love with it on my first try!

What I love about it?

  • The scent. It smells sweet that it lingers throughout the day.
  • It gives instant shine to my hair that I won't need to apply hair cuticle.
  • It's not sticky that my hair doesn't tend to clump and tangle.
  • It's definitely lightweight. I don't feel anything heavy after spraying it.
  • It doesn't attract or accumulate dust thus it feels clean all day.
  • The spray is excellent that it can be spread easily to the entire hair.

What I don't love about it?

Nothing! Except its availability. Well, I am not sure though since I don't go out often that I haven't checked from the drugstores yet here in Manila.

Lately, I am getting addicted to skin care products aside from make up. One thing that I cannot live without now are my skin care essentials because I must admit, I am not getting any young. In addition to that, I also look for skin care products which are also affordable especially to SAHMs like me.

This brand has been in the market already for a long time but it was only now that I get to try this. Believe me when I say, I am tad lazy to put face masks before but now that I made a pledge to myself, I will do it more often this time. This product is interesting because the name itself is promising. 2 minute Whitening Miracle? Sounds promising right?

The sachet contains 8ml of product and very space saving for someone who has a lot of skin care products in their stash.

How to use it: Apply the cloudy gel like product on a dry clean face. Apply it enough to cover my face not too thick nor too thin avoiding the eye area. After two minutes the product will slowly breakdown and you can start massaging your face in a circular motion and wash the product off. One sachet is enough to use for three times.

Verdict: This product is really true to is claim. My skin feels soft and supple after  massaging and
washing off the product. It made my skin white and glowing too. My face felt so clean afterwards that I wouldn't need to use cleansing brush anymore. The entire product can be used two to three times depending on how much you will use. Price point of P25 per sachet is not bad and really worth the buck.

This product is available on Watson's and other leading Drugstores nationwide.

A Vist to Dinosaurs Island

The Super Momma 11:15 PM 0 Comments
My daughter is fond of Dinosaurs and animals and any weird stuff I can think of. Well, I probably would like to perceive it in a good way since I expect for a girl to love anything girly. When her birthday was drawing near, I thought of satisfying her fantasy and take her to the Dinosaurs Island. They have two locations, one is in Baguio and the other one is in Pampanga. I initially thought of Baguio since I miss the cold weather there but it was almost Penagbenga/Flower festival already. We hate being stuck in traffic so we decided to go to Pampanga instead. It will be double fun since we also planned to take them to Ocean Adventure that I will bog on a separate entry.

Dinosaurs Island is located behind one of the parks in Mabalacat, Pampanga. It is easy to go there if you know your way with Google Map which makes it easy to travel these days. Their park is also a favorite itenerary of school tours and I am glad that my children get to visit them with us.

Mini museum photos:

They mimicked a forest type park so expect that pathways aren’t cemented. Every Dinosaur specie has description and has a sensor that when you get near it will produce a sound. The kids however got scared and my little girl doesn’t want to go near anymore. I must say they did a pretty good job with it!

Each Dinosaur is strategically located on every corner of their forest park which makes the tour exciting. They also have a mini museum wherein you can see the bones relics of some of the Dinosaurs.

Here are some of the tips on your Dinosaurs Island trip:
  • Apply mosquito repellant lotion. I heard from a friend she got dengue after visiting the place. Good thing I applied lotion to my kids.
  • Bring lots of water, for hydration purposes.
  • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • Go there early to you can visit some of their add on attractions and enjoy and learn as well.
  • Prepare your camera, as you will take lots and lots of pictures just like we did.
Ticket price: P350

Operating hours: 9am- 5pm

We didn't get to try their other attractions as the kids were so cranky already. We might try them out in the near future when the youngest is enough to appreciate it already.

Have you visited them already? Let me know down below.

So I had my Korean fix at Althea Philippines, which I have raved about it from my post here. All my expectations for the products that I got were not that much but I must say that I was really impressed by most of it. One of which is the Nature Republic Aloe Gel.

Without having any idea what it does to me, I simply ordered it because its Aloe Vera and I don’t have any Aloe Vera yet on my stash. Crazy reasoning but I didn’t know it was raved by most of the youtubers!

It is basically an Aloe Vera gel in a tub with lots of uses like an all in one product for the body. A few weeks prior to my Althea haul, I was really experiencing erythyma on my tummy. I was scratching it like crazy and I was worried that my stretchmarks will get irritated and further cause problem. My skin was dry and I was out of lotion as well and I am itching to try something new. Mind you, it was really worth it.

The product comes in a gel consistency and is cold to touch. When applied to the skin, it gives refreshing feeling. It is sticky on application but when it’s set, it leaves the skin a smooth feeling just like baby skin. I kid you not! The product can be used on the hair, face and body. Like most of the youtubers say, it’s an all in one product.

The scent is also refreshing but not overwhelming. It is just enough to keep you feeling so refreshed throughout the day. My redness on my legs were gone as well as the itchiness on my abdominal area. Honestly, I was really surprised to think I wasn’t expecting that much from it. When I used it on my face, the next morning my face felt supple, soft and smooth.

I highly recommend this product and I must say that this is a must have in your stash. Aside that it can relieve minor skin problems, it can make your skin smooth, supple and hydrated. One thing though that is downside is the packaging. I am really not a fan of products in a tub. One is hygienic issue and it is not travel friendly for me. But since I don’t go out and travel that often, this will do for me.

The tub costs about P180 online at Althea Korea website. I am not sure though how much it costs in stores. This product is already available in Nature Republic stores here in Manila. You can check them out at SM MOA and at LANDMARK department stores.

At this very moment, my son is lying on my chest since it is the only position that gives comfort since he was cranky all day. My head is spinning and I feel so lightheaded already from sleep deprivation. I don't understand why It feels like I am back to square one where in fact, he is already my third child.

Now I began to wonder what other first time mommies out there would feel few days/weeks/months post partum. Most people would rejoice because yes, it really feels good to have a new baby but probably nobody told them how hard it will be when the sleepless nights starts to kick in.

To all the first time mommies out there, hang in there. We shared the same road once and I tell you, it wasn't easy but it will pass. Life is good.

Most probably right now, you can't figure out what next move you will do as everything just seemed to be chaos and painful and messy. I feel you, I have been there before. But I am glad I carefully learned from all of it.

I know you won't be spared from the relatives who will visit you and bug you every now and then and asks you how was the birthing process and all sorts of questions. At first it was overwhelming but at the same time quite annoying. You need alot of rest or the first few days but instead there you are trying your best to entertain them and probably not just it. Though, I appreciate it and so much thankful but sometimes it just get so exhausting.

So if you would ask me, what are the things you need to do? Here, I am sharing with you what worked for me:

Sleep. So how do you sleep if you need to wake up every now and then? Sleep when the little one is asleep. You need to repair every tissue in your body as well as the entire system needs recuperation from the birthing process.

Take your medicines. Post Operatively there will be unbearable pain and because you are still prone to infection, most probably your OB will prescribe you few of them. Take it. It will do you good than harm. Your soft tissues needs repair and it will help. If you have pain, take analgesics. It will help you relieve from untoward anxiety too.

Take a bath. Who doesn't love refreshing baths? So if your elders say, do not until they said so. Think again, even intubated patients in ICU are given sponge bath how much more are we? And again, either you give birth vaginally or ceasarian, personal care is a must to avoid acquiring infection.

Shut them off. Which one? Why? People will be happy for you and some will make your life a little complicated. Its reality. Some may tell you how hard life will be with a baby WITHOUT help and they will question you with a lot of things mostly with your parenting. I. Have. Been. There. If you can, just focus on being a mother and be a deaf for once in your life. If you think and confident of what you are doing, then do so. If you have questions regarding your baby, ask the pedia directly. Some know-it-all relatives/friends will give you unsolicited advise. I assume that you have done research already prior to giving birth so take out those notes and scan it again. Believe me, too many advices can do harm than good.

Feel better. But really, how? Again, follow the steps mentioned above and most of all, make yourself fabulous. If you need to put those red lipsticks on just to make you feel better, then do so. If you need a full make up even if you are home, get that foundie on at splash that face with colors. It works wonders, I tell you.

Why did I not mention the husband? Well, I am saving you from pain in the ass. No, I don't hate my husband like that but most probably not all husbands are ready to enter or should I say they are ready to enter parenthood in words but in actions. I also assume here that they are out working and most of the time you will be alone in the house. It's okay. As I have said, I have been there. He may want to involve himself in the house with the baby and some chores, but not all can do it. It is supposed to be a team but oftentimes they are tired too from work outside as well.

First time mommies, I hope you can learn from this. If you have anything to add, do let me know in the comment box or share a little of your experience.
