Summer Getaway List

Summer Getaway List

The Super Momma 11:14 AM 0 Comments
January just ended officially today while I am typing this post. It is just a month away from getting a sun-kissed skin again! But wait, I have to tell you that I have sacrificed a decent summer getaway since the kids came. But this time, I realized that the kids are no reason not to enjoy the summer. There are alot of to-go beaches that I haven't visited yet or should I say to visit again? Well it depends on the availability of the master planner and how he will squeeze in his tight schedule and budget! But as for me and the kiddos, we're ready to roll!

Here are some of to-visit places or perfect getaway:

  • Bohol. I may be one of the few who hasn't visited Bohol yet. Yeah I know Boo! Hopefully this year we can visit and see some tarsier ans experience the floating restaurant in Loboc River.

Chocolate Hills

  • Coron/El Nido, Palawan. I would love to go to these Islands. They look so serene!

El Nido Palawan
  • Anawangin, Zambales.

  • Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. I remembered 2 years ago when we traveled up north and out of nowhere we decided to go to Pagudpud from Vigan. But because it was unplanned, we ended up not finding the right way to the desired location.

  • Caramoan Islands. I am a true Bicolana but I have never been to Caramoan Islands yet. My mom works as an engineer and this island is part of her job but when I have the time to go there, the place is not available due to the shooting of Survivor.

  • Puerto Galera. Funny because this place is near Manila and we haven't been in this place yet. We always planned to go here but fate doesn't allow us yet.

  • Balesin Island, Quezon. Isn't the place looks divine? Well I need php 2 million to become a member of the club and to be able to experience this place. So this is just part of my wishful thinking.

What about you? What are your travel destinations this summer?

Zumba Workout

The Super Momma 6:54 AM 0 Comments
So what's keeping me busy lately? This little thing called addicted to getting fit. Since I can't do jogging, yoga and outdoor workout due to my current state of being a SAHM, I tried to look for options where I can do the workout at the comfort of my own time and home.

I have been hearing about the Zumba workout several years ago and one of my friends even invited me to try the Zumba class in Gold's gym but since I was pregnant that time with my first born, I told her next time. But I think next time means close to impossible doing it in a gym. So I searched for instructional videos online where I can download and do it in the comfort of my time and home.

But what is Zumba by the way? Yes, I had the same question before. All I heard was it's a dance. Yeah, I love dancing but it's like forever that i haven't done it. My last was way back in college roughly 11 years ago! (Gee I'm old!)

Anyway according to dear friend wikipedia, Zumba is a Colombian dance fitness program and involves dance and aerobic elements. Zumba's choreography incorporates hip-hopsocasambasalsamerenguemambo,martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves. Squats and lunges are also included.

I found this video in youtube and tried it on, after several years, it was again the time that I actually sweat alot! I did it together with the kids and they enjoyed it! I caught my little girl swaying in her playpen and jumping on her pace.

So if you love dancing, you might wann try this kind of workout. But before engaging yourself into strenuous and extensive workout, remember to keep a water handy and do stretching first. You don't wanna end up dehydrated and with sore muscles the next day.

So what about you? What kind of workouts have you tried? Share your thoughts.

Three T's

The Super Momma 7:33 PM 0 Comments
As I type this post, I can now loosen up because we just came from our pedia for my little girl's check-up. Last Wednesday she had fever and the highest was 38.8 degrees C. Yes, considered a low grade but for a nurse-mom like me I get paranoid sometimes especially when it is your own daughter's health. It was grueling since I am left at home and J went on an out of town legal audit. So just imagine I have two babies one is throwing tantrums at me and the other one is febrile. Plus I have tons of chores to do and I have to feed them also. During these times I wish a had extra help at home. But then again, I wouldn't resort to that kind of idea as I have abandoned it already. So it will only be me and J to take care of our kids minus the fact that he is on a work mode : out of town.

So when he came back from his out of town work, we went for a check-up. Since it was the first time we went, and despite the appointment, took us 2 hours just to wait for our turn. While waiting, she ordered for a CBC and platelet count and urinalysis. After an hour results came in. CBC results showed that she is slightly anemic whereas the urinalysis is normal. Anyway, for me 2 hours is worth the wait despite the rowdy toddler and the grumpy febrile baby, because I liked the new pedia which is recommended by my cousin who was once a resident at Manila Doctors Hospital. I like the way she explains well every detail of her patient's condition and how she deals with her patients.

Right now, I have this lightheaded sensation due to altered sleeping pattern related to monitoring my little girl's fever for three nights. I must say, this is more hard than going on a 16hour hospital duty with ventilated patients. Later, I can now sleep soundly because she has no more fever except that she had minimal maculopapular rash due to Roseola Infantum.

I rely much on my three t's for my baby's condition which is pretty much effective, Tempra (Paracetamol), thermometer and tepid bath. But despite the fever she had, she is still playful and has still the appetite which I am thankful for, plus she takes the medicine with so much ease.

Fever day 1

She can still show off her teeth despite the fever

Playful despite the 38.7 C temperature

After 30 minutes of finding the position of her comfort, she dozed off

She fell asleep while waiting for our turn during her pedia appointment

Did your babies experience the same? How did you go about it?

On preparations and Mc Donald's Kiddie party
First of, I would like to greet my baby girl happy 11 months old! Time flies and yesterday you surprised me with an independent attitude! I would miss you being so helpless but it makes me happy that you're growing up so fast.

It's barely a month and my little girl is turning 1 year old! Now, I am so excited to prepare for her double celebration -- christening and first birthday. The reason we made it on the same day is because of what happened on Jolo's christening wherein few guests were able to make it due to their busy schedules. So as early as now I am already making invites and finally booked the birthday celebration at Mc Donalds. The birthday package from Mc Donalds was a grand prize from EQ's birthday package. Read about my post here.

The birthday package includes party theme of php 2,000 and food package of php 5,500 from EQ diapers. As for the Mc Donalds birthday packages, you may visit their website here.

Their birthday packages includes the following:
  • venue and amenities
  • food
  • party hats
  • balloons
  • loot bags
  • hosting
  • invitation cards

If you would like a themed party other than Ronald and the Gang, they offer also different characters like Disney Princess and Mickey Mouse provided an additional cost. If you have decided on hosting a party at their venue you may book in advance so have get to book the time of your choice. I choose Disney princess for my little girl's party to make it more special. It is a hassle free party and all I have to prepare is my little girl's dress for her birthday, christening and the church preparations which includes the godparents.

For her dress, I would like a tutu dress but will have to do it on my own. I saw some online sellers which makes customized tutu dress for babies but way too expensive and I thought I could make one and be able to choose my own embellishments.I bought a blue and pink tulle and cost me only php 80 for 6 yards.

For her cake/giveaways, since I decided to provide my own and Mc Donalds doesn't allow cake to be served to the guests, I decided to have a small fondant cake and a cupcake tower. The cupcakes and cookies would serve as the giveaways. Since I have a very talented friend who makes cakes and cupcakes for me, I asked her to make AJ's birthday cake. If you are hosting a birthday or event and would love a cake but on a budget, you can visit her facebook page here. She would love to help you out. Anyway, here is my inspiration for her cake, cupcakes and cookies. Because I love Hello Kitty, I would love her cake to have Hello Kitty cake (I know it's a bit self serving idea).

Aren't they cute? Now, I have to start my project which is the tutu dress. I have less than a month to finish and polish everything. Will update you of the celebration.

How about you? How did you celebrate your kids' first birthday? Share your thoughts.

Till my next post.
