Halloween is the time of the year where my kids would look forward to always because it is where they can get to dress up their costumes. My kids love dressing up and every year they get to choose whatever costume they fancy. This year, we can get to celebrate the halloween with one of my favorite mommy bloggers community. Much like two years ago, it is always fun to attend event with them because I get to meet new online friends and meet new kids.

Did you know that as early as August we were already able to buy them costumes? Yes that early because we don't want to go through the hassle of buying last minute for their costumes. And it was always worth it.

This year, the halloween party was held at The Mind Museum because they were kind enough to sponsor the venue as well as complimentary tickets to their Science Circus (watch out for that). As usual, there are lots of new sponsors again this year and quite overwhelming.

But you know what, these are few of the reasons why you shouldn't miss the next halloween party of this community.

1. Meet online mommy bloggers and eventually friends. Okay, I am a SAHM and there are rare moments where I get to mingle with fellow mommies physically. All the times I get to talk to mommies online. This is a good event where we can mingle with each other whilst the running children around us. We too need some socialization right?

2. Make the kids happy. The only reason why I attend events like these is to make the kids feel happy. They love dressing up, playing with other kids and playing outside our home. Also, this is the time of the yea where I allow them to eat unlimited treats. Hello tonsilitis. HAHA!

3. We might be lucky. Due to the number of generous sponsors, they are giving away prizes to some mommies in the raffle draw. But you know what? I was never lucky in any of the raffles but this time, I won myself a Tupperware On-the-go set! Thank you so much again for that Tupperware!

4. Be spoiled with so many sponsors. We do not go home empty handed but rather bags filled with treats from our generous sponsors!

Again, we look forward to another event again next year. My kids and I had so much fun. Thank you so much to our dear generous sponsors for our treats! Mommy Bloggers Philippines Mad Hatter Party is made possible by generous sponsors and a team of mommies who love this blogging community.

Thank you to The Mind Museum who not only provided us with a venue but also made sure we had a great time by providing all day passes and tickets to their soon to come Science Circus exhibit.

Science Circus Step Right Up! Is the latest traveling exhibition of the Mind Museum, showcasing the amusing, the peculiar, and the extraordinary in our everyday experiences, in the form of interactive exhibits that deceive the senses and boggle the mind. Be ready to #EnterTheScienceCircus this coming October 28, 2016!

While the nearly 250-year history of the circus abounds with awe-inspiring demonstrations of physical skill - such as flying aerial artists, to death defying daredevils - the Science Circus challenges our traditional notions of a circus  by focusing on the mind's "acrobatic"perceptual tricks.

As the guests enter the exhibition, they are welcomed by a festive, colorful facade which sets the tone for the sights and sounds they are about to experience. These interactive exhibits are displayed simultaneously in three adjacent Rings. Guests can go in any of the Rings in the order they please.

RING ONE, or Deception Perception is a menagerie of exhibits that will prompt you to question whether to see is to believe. Can you always trust your senses? Is what you see as real as it seems? Can your brain produce motion where there is none? Your first venture into the Circus will unveil the "blindness" of your mind's eye.

RING TWO highlights the Pieces of Incredible Engineering where guests can engage in their minds in puzzles and relish how math and art come together. This central area is animated by simple machines, and engages guests in activities that evoke their inner engineer\.

Last but not the least, RING THREE or Encounters with the Masters, where guests can interact with and lean secrets of the Masters of Illusion. They can take on the challenges posed by each Master, and discover how our brains can be ensnared by smoke and mirrors.

The Science Circus Step Right Up! exhibition vividly illustrates how our everyday experiences are full of delightful secrets that we can uncover, to discover more about ourselves and the world around us.

Note: The Mind Museum's traveling exhibition Science Circus will be on display in the Museum for a limited run, until January 31, 2017 only. The exhibition aims to travel to cities and provinces around the country as part of The Mind Museum's mission to bring science closer to the general public.

In this blogpost I will be featuring one cloth diaper brand which is close to my heart, Cyan’s Cradle. I was one of the lucky few who bought her nappies when the WAHM behind it started her business months ago. Her creations were tested to her almost 24 months old son who is a heavy wetter baby.

When I bought her first few nappies back then, I was pretty much satisfied with its absorbency considering my son was a medium wetter. But I was glad that over time, she improves all her creations which makes us happy mommy and baby.

Me and my son started with two nappies from her and later on bought again several. Her first few soakers where tailored in a way where you can opt to use one layer only, two layers or add additional booster to it of needed. Over time, the second nappy we bought was snake style and this time is like sandwich type.

But let me talk about the latest nappy I got from her which is one of our favorites, a Mavel kawaii print nappy.

Hybrid fitted is composed of three layers of fabric. The hidden layer is the one that repels the liquid back to the soaker and prevents the outer layer from getting wet. The soakers are also made of layers of different fabric to effectively absorb the pee. The one that touches the skin is the AWJ (athletic wicking jersey) which keeps the baby’s bum dry. There is also a booster in the front part which are layers of hemp which is also great for absorbing pee. The inner layer of the nappy is made of AWJ also.

I like that it is made of FDR because HFs have better fit with it than SDR setting. The crotch area will not have that clumped layers of thick fabric. I know most of the moms will agree to that. The new batch of nappies has better absorption and could last us overnight without changing in the middle of sleep.

Oh, she customizes according to your babies’ needs the nappies you will order from her. If you wish to inquire, send her a message on her facebook page. You may also join her facebook group to be updated with her latest stocking and patiently answer all your inquiries.

One last thing, if you are near south, you may visit their booth at Tipid Nanay’s bazaar at November 5, Saturday, Le Parc Event Hall Blue Bay Walk, Mall of Asia. Register now at: www.tipidnanay.com.

60% of patients with heart disease fail to comply with their medication, study shows

For patients with cardiovascular disorders, adherence to medication goes a long way in ensuring that their health is in its tiptop condition. However, 60 percent of these patients are not complying with the medication as prescribed by their doctors, according to a study.

Published in the American Heart Association, the study revealed that non adherence to medication remains to be a major problem for cardiovascular patients, often leading to poor clinical outcomes, frequent hospitalizations, and increased mortality.

To prevent the worst consequences of heart disease, expert says that religious compliance to medication should be a top priority—starting from curbing the risk factors associated with the disorder.

“One of the risk factors for developing heart disease is having high blood cholesterol levels, which increases the risk of formation of plaques and atherosclerosis,” said Dr. Amado Nazal, medical director of Pharex HealthCorp. “If our patients will comply with their medication from the moment their doctors instructed them to lower their cholesterol levels, then we will be able to keep their condition from worsening.”

He added, “We believe that many patients fail to adhere to their medication because of the costs that come with it. However, medication need not be expensive. This is why at Pharex, we provide optimum health assistance to these patients through maintenance medicines that are not only of high quality but also affordable.”

Pharex HealthCorp., the most prescribed brand of medicines, offers quality maintenance medicines that are designed to help curb high cholesterol levels at an affordable price.

With Pharex’s 15-day Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol, patients will be able to comply with their medication to prevent tendencies of having chronic cardiovascular diseases.

“Fat as a result of bad cholesterol can build up on the walls of your heart’s arteries, which suppresses the smooth blood circulation that’s crucial to our body system’s functions,” Nazal said.

When arteries are narrowed down or blocked, the heart will not be able to pump blood to the other parts of the body, Nazal added. “Too much cholesterol weakens our heart, therefore putting to risk our lives.”

“With the new Pharex 15-day Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol, we are assuring patients of three things: first, they can conveniently bring their medicine whenever and wherever they go as it is packed in a resealable foil pouch. Second, it’s affordable and accessible to leading drugstores nationwide. Lastly, healthcare professionals proved and tested the effectiveness of the medicine, making it a top choice for people who have high cholesterol levels,” said Nazal.

Nazal concluded, “Failure to comply with medication could cost our lives more than we realize. Now that the new Compliance Pouch for Cholesterol is here, patients will be more able to improve the quality of their lives without the added costs.”

The new Pharex Compliance Pouc h is available in all leading  drugstores. For more

The idea of close family ties is widespread among Filipinos as evidenced in their habits and practices. Filipinos value the concept of extended families with in-laws living in one household or overseas workers who overcome loneliness in order to support the family or of caring for the elderly members at home instead of packing them off to a hospice for the aged. But more importantly, family members care about their loved ones’ health as much as they care of their own.

Filipinos show concern for the people they love most, especially the elderly, by taking care of them when they are sick. Health concerns are usually discussed with the trusted members of the family for motivation to recover and further assistance. Indeed, oftentimes, family members come together in nursing a sickly member back to health or when paying medical bills.

Other than ensuring that their loved ones’ health are monitored, family members actively see to it that medical regimens are maintained so that they get well, expenses do not get aggravated or hospitalizations are minimized or avoided altogether.

In order to help Filipinos take better care of their loved ones, Pharex HealthCorp—the most prescribed unibranded generic medicines—has long advocated the importance of adhering to prescribed medication. This is why the Pharex 15-day Compliance Pouch or Pharex CP15 was launched. This innovative product aims to assist patients to better adhere to their treatment regimen.

“We see how individuals put importance to family and their health. And with this, we want people to know that Pharex is one with them in the care for their elder family members,” said Tomas Marcelo Agana III, President and CEO of Pharex.

The company has been in the service of Filipinos for more than 25 years, showing sincere concern for their families by providing anti-infective and chronic care drugs, as well as, vitamins.

“In line with our support to disseminate the essence of compliance, we make sure that our medicines are affordable and accessible without compromising on quality. This is our mission: to promote strict compliance to medication for recovery and a better quality of life,” Agana added.

Pharex CP15 are all available in any leading drugstores. For more details, kindly contact (local 820).
Local products has been steeping up with their products at being at par with the foreign brands. If only I have the liberty to splurge on products, I would buy and try them all for you. But I am just limited to what I think is just and somewhat within the budget of other mommies. Because you know, I am a mom and my money is budgeted to the kids. Yes, real talk.

Anyway, the product I will share with you right now is the Detail Make Over Contour Kit. I got this from the brand launch several months ago. I know, sorry too swamped with mom duties and sick kids one after the other. Anyway, here it is.

Honestly, this is the very first local contour kit I had. If I wasn't invited to the brand launch I would never knew this kit has existed. The ones that I use for contour, highlight and blush are three different brands. I am just happy that finally I have a kit/palette and the best pat is, a local brand too.

This kit contains six products in one. Two contour powders, one bronzer, one highlighter and two shades of blusher. One word for me--perfect! I only do simple make up everyday and whenever we go out. This is just the right kit for me and in my opinion is perfect for that Morena ( Filipino) skin.

There are two contour products in the kit, the one on top is matte and the one at the bottom is a bit satin. You have to be careful when picking up product with the one on top because it is so pigmented. You have to blend them really well. It has a bronzer also that you can abuse. Yes, you can bronze you face with it without overdoing it. The shade is just perfect especially for those who are still learning the ropes of it. The highlighter is also just right now totally blinding, enough only to make your face glow and stand out in photos. Two shades of blush which is the pink and coral shades which is also pigmented.

Guide to contour and bronzing

Swatches
For it's price of P499 per kit, I must say that it is just considering you have six products in one kit. You know I am for affordable and products which really deliver good results.

It also has a starter guide on the flip cover for those who has no idea at all where to put those products in your face. Again, this a good kit for those who are new to make up products.

However, I am a bit wary with its packaging. Not that I like plastic cases which also in the long run gets broken but I just am not sure if it is secure in its karton packaging. So you really need to put extra care. Because you know, I get brokenhearted with broken make up products.

These baby is available at your Detail Make Over counters at the mall kiosks and these are also available online in BeautyMNL.

The weather in my side of the world has only two seasons--the wet and dry. During the transition form wet to dry and vice versa, I always have hard time not only with the health of the children but also my skin. For the past weeks where the weather is such a bipolar, I have been dealing with my dry lips to the point that there is always tugging effect when I apply lip product and I don't like it. Not only it looks unhealthy but also accompanied with pain because of dryness.

I am obsessed with lip products and admittedly, I have more lip products than my foundations and other make-ups. Much like eyebrows, I cannot leave the house without any lip products on. Because you know, lips is life also. Haha!

Again, I have tried a lot of lip treatments and lip masks that I have never heard of, but still nothing happened. I was really looking for local sellers of the the overnight lip mask from Laniege, but to no avail.

Then I saw Vaseline lip therapy which comes in a small jar but sadly it was sold in Divisoria, scared as hell, I wouldn't want to risk buying it because it might do harm than good in my already dry lips. But thank goodness because I found one seller online which sells the UK version. I have been treating my lips every night for almost thee weeks now and I must say, I am loving it! Dryness is gone and I have now healthy looking lips.

The product is much like any petroleum jelly but it has added Rose and Almond oil benefits to it. The texture is pretty much the same but the smell is fragrant. It smells like floral with a slight hint of sweetness to it. It also makes lips quite pinkish because the product is pink. When applied to the lips overnight, the lips feels moisturized in the morning. The reason why I am loving it.

The only downside to it is that it comes in a tin can which sometimes is hard to open and quite unsanitary as I have to poke the product with my fingers and apply it to my lips. However, what I do is that I just make sure that I sanitize my hands everytime I touch it so as to prevent cross contamination also.

This will be a must product to my skin care for me to maintain that healthy looking lips all the time.

By the way, I got this from Anne De Guzman in facebook. She sells make up products and othe skin care products. Link to her profile here: Anne De Guzman. Oh she's legit, I had several transactions with her already.

Have you tried this? What products do you use for your lips to maintain it? Share your thoughts below.

It is with a heavy heart that I will write this blog post. But since I have been putting it off for years already, I might as well publish it now. This has been sitting in my drafts for too long. But everytime I read it, it sounds really bad because it has just too much hate in it and I don't want that kind of post here anymore (if I have, apologies).

This might be a little TMI (too much information) but I assure you, what I am sharing here is just part of it. I believe this might be of help to those who are/might be going through the same situation and prevent it at some point.

Not everyone knows (because I really do not like sharing it) that I grew up in a pessimist family. Well, sort of a parent only because my mom eversince was an optimistic person. I thought growing up that way was the normal kind. Everything we do and try to do is just not right nor allowed. My siblings and I had only one support in everything we do and that is coming from my mom. Most of the time we saw them fight over matters with regards to parenting because dad is not the supportive type of father. He has the level 999 kind of paranoia. Why am I even sharing this? Because I am a parent now. As much as possible, I would like to raise happy kids by being a supportive mother in everything they do. I don't want them to have regrets in life as well as castration. I don't want them to suffer tough love because they might see it wrongly and there is too much hate in this world already. Basically, I want to be the better parent to my children. But you know what? I thought it is easier said and done. It is hard. Oftentimes when I hit rock bottom, I become my father. I didn't like it because I don't want my children to hate me when time comes. As much as possible I would like to do positive parenting to my children. I am just thankful though that they have an optimist father. He reminds me to be positive in everything we do and reinforces the children whenever needed. I also love that he is more compassionate than me. Yes, that is the sad reality, because you know it's vicious cycle. But hey, I am trying my best right now to do away from whatever I grew up with because now that I know best, I should know better and do what is right.

What I learned from a pessimist family? ALOT.

* Life is not fair. You probably know this already because who else doesn't? You know my dilemma was? That my friends has all the liberty to do what they want and I just envy them because they have full support from their parents. While I, have SLIGHT. Mom was there to support me but she was afraid to do so because at some point it will be the fuel of their argument later on. Example? Educational Tour. My dad won't let US but mom thinks it's beneficial to us. Of course it is that's why it is called an educational tour for a reason right?

* Finish studies without hurdles. When I hit college, all I can think of was to finish it with flying colors (at least) and get a job ASAP. My mind was so tortured already from all the negative minds because all I wanted was a relaxed state of study but it just won't happen. Example again? My peak of concentration is at 3:00 in the morning. No matter how I try my brain to smack with facts from my thick books, it just wouldn't absorb it. So I had to wake up at 3ish for the knowledge to be properly stored in my brain. Then here comes my pessimist father who would accuse me of doing something illegal because I am up at 3:00am. Seriously?  NOT FUN.

* Be an adult. Having only one parent who has an open mind and sound judgement was hard. We were like prisoners and victims of wrongful judgement all the time. I had to break rules for the benefit of my studies most of the time even if how hard it was to be judged and accept the consequences of it. I had to or else I will not be able to graduate college. I was thankful of it because when I had a job and living on my own, making sound decisions was never a hard one for me. But right now, being a mom is a different story. I have to make sure to consult the husband all the time and make decisions based on a common agreement.

* Have a broad perspective. THIS. My dad has dwelled too much on the negative that the news he sees, reads and overhears every single day means getting out of the house is dangerous. I mean danger is inevitable but that doesn't hinder us from exploring the world and see the beauty of it. That's why, as much as possible we take the kids to most of our trips. We want them to see the beauty of the world as early as possible.

* Love unconditionally. I am not saying that he never loved us, but what happened growing up was everything else has its condition. We were like puppets that if we do this and that he will be proud of us. Our interests really differs and he didn't bridge the gap we had instead he built a wall and got stuck there. He makes choices for us despite us having ours. He bashes all of our decisions because he thinks he does better than us. Again, I know where he is coming from. But now that I am already a mom, as early as when my children could understand I try my best to let them choose and decide on their own even if it means my daughter wants to wear rain boots on a summer weather and wear hat inside the house.

* Support. THIS TOO. Out of all we do, from my recollection, he only supported us 20% in my entire existence. Yes, that bad. NOT. Again, I didn't see it wrongly instead I was challenged to do good and be creative in my own little way. As a parent, we try to support whatever the children does. It can boost their confidence and have a happy disposition in life.

That's all. I could go on and on but I only shared some as this might be a long post and I don't want to bore you out. I know we have our own stories to share only different. So what's yours? Share yours in the comment section below and let's have a chitchat.
My mom has been my inspiration when it comes to my parenting my children. Much like her, I was a dedicated mom ever since my eldest has been born. We like to DIY stuff and I think the essence to it is the love we put to everything we do. That way, our children would see our efforts on how we really work hard to give them what is best.

Growing up, she likes to send us baon to school everyday and I remember that time she would wake up really early just to prepare baon for us four siblings. She want us to have healthy and safe food to eat and most of all to save money and effort going through the canteen line in school. She would tell us that she doesn't know how the food was prepared in school so we better bring our own food safely prepared with love at home. Our already heavy bags that we lug to school everyday contains books, notebooks and most of all our baon in her trusted brand in food keeper which is the Tupperware brand. In my recollection, this has been with us eversince I was born. It has became a staple in our household that everything I see in our kitchen is all Tupperware--from pitchers, salad bowls, big food keepers to the smallest ones as well as other kitchen wares. It was only a decade after probably when I was already in high school that they get to introduce skin care and other products.

Their products are well known for the durability, quirky designs and fun colors. What I also like about it is how they kept the food fresh even after hours in storage. They are the first brand in my recollection to introduce the "no leak" food keeper system. I guess that's what my mom and other relatives loved about it.

I know that someday when the kids are older and when it is already my turn to prepare their food, I will also do the same. That every food I cook and prepare will be prepared with so much effort and love so that my children will remember all my efforts much like I did with mom.

When liquid matte lipsticks was a thing, I have been wanting to get my hands on few local brands. This local brand which I have been seeing from my favorite local youtubers which is the Matte in Detail. So I told myself , I have to get my hands on it. But I was yet lucky enough to be included in the launch of the said brand and got the first dibs of their newest shades in the market. When I saw their newly launched shades, I was really happy because all of the shades were wearable! Let me list down my thoughts about this product.

Swatches in Morena skin
Packaging:

Comes in a plastic square transparent tube with doe foot wand applicator. The shades are indicated on the box as well as on the lower part of the tube. The handle is in matte black which is simple and elegant.

Consistency:

The consistency is very creamy and can glide on your lips easily. However, it sets so easily that you need to work with it really fast.

Scent:

Melon

Pigmentation:

The shades on the tube may look similar or the same but when it is applied,  may differ. The color pay off is excellent that in one swipe you can get the color you want. Some lighter shades though are quite streaky and you need to blend it properly.

Longevity:

The product could last me for almost 6 hours depending on which shade I use and what food I eat/drink during the day.  It also leaves stain on the lips most especially with the darker shades. However, when you decide to make touch ups, you should remove the entire product because it will look dry and flaky if you will just reapply.

Availability:

These are available in most of the malls in Manila and nearby provincial malls.

What I do not like:

The labels on the bottom part is printed in black and for those that has poor eyesight will not see it properly. I hope they could print it white or any color in contrast to the shade on the lipstick.

Some of the colors tend to get patchy for longer periods of time (Samantha) and will not look good on your lips especially if you have dry lips.

I suggest that you prep your lips first before applying the product so as not to emphasize the dryness.

Overall thoughts:

I would highly recommend it especially for mommies who likes lipsticks and has little ones because these lippies are transfer proof! The price point is affordable and you can buy as much shades, as you like because all of them are wearable!

These babies are priced at P225.

Have you tried this one? Let me know your thoughts.
