When I had my first born, I didn’t make an extensive research back then about any baby gears/ products. What I did was to go to the mall and buy the best there is. That time, there is one brand, which they recommend, and that is Philips Avent. At first, I was quite skeptical because considering the price point I could buy myself a different brand that serves the same purpose. But I didn’t, because I know in the long run it will be worth the buck. Now that a lot of brands are out in the market, I may have many options but I will always go back to the trusted brand by most of the mommies.

In celebration with Mother’s Day, Philips Avent is helping us mothers in provide information on how to make right choices for our babies. They came up with interesting topics that are in best interest to the parents most especially to the first time mommies.

The first speaker, Chef Dang Adrias taught us how to make delicious and healthy meals to babies using the Philips Avent steamer and blender. She made use of carrots in two different recipes (carrot cuppies and carrot soup). The best thing about her is that she is also a mom who exactly knows our dilemmas and needs.

The second speaker is Sharon Agoncillo who talked about baby sign language in babies. I have been hearing about this for quite sometime and honestly, I could’ve taught my daughter this baby sign language before if only I had known. Again, this one will help a lot of mommies to promote better communication with their child.

The last speaker is Frances Sales, which I am a fan of talks about promoting self-esteem in women with kids. I am also like her that has three kids and nannyless and it really brings out the best or the worse in us when burn out suddenly kicks in. She talked about her few tips on how to stay beautiful especially to us stay at home mommies in which I agree 100% of it.

Frances Sales' Tips to a Beautiful Motherhood:

1. Stick to a simple facial regimen.
2. Keep nails well groomed.
3. Invest in a good hairstyle.
4. Apply make-up.
5. Schedule a regular pamper session.
6. Take care of your body.
7. Use shapewear.
8. Buy clothes in your size.
9. Create a uniform.
10. Be grateful.

Lucky mommies won some gift packs from Avent and others get to enjoy a pampering sesh too. Before the event ended, I was lucky to win their Philips Avent thermometer! Yehey!

Summer is almost over and before it finally closes, I would like my children to enjoy and make the most of it and make more memories with them through a different kind of activity. My kids loved arts so much but I must admit they haven't experienced arts yet to the next level.

Before we end the summer, I highly recommend that you try these activities with your children. Who knows, you might unleash that artistic side of your children through these. Listed down below are must try activities for your kids:

1. Watch a theater show!

In a world of video streaming and smartphones, it is rare to see children not glued to their gadgets.Introduce them to other forms of entertainment like live theater. Just make sure that you choose a show that is child-friendly. Look for youthful and energetic productions that also teach golden values through the story. A good example of this is PETA’s Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang! The play is like a fairytale book that has come to life as Lola Basyang shares stories of magical spells, kings and their kingdoms. Without a doubt, you’ll enjoy it too!

2. Join a workshop.

Make your bonding activity an educational one too! There are plenty of workshops available these days but pick ones that you can do together as parent and child. This way, it’s not only you or your kid that gets to enjoy the activity. Rather, you get a chance to do it together. Afterwards, you can laugh at the little errors that you made, share the learning that you earned and even display your output at home!

3. Create and tell your own stories!

How about exploring the art of words with your little one? Filipinos naturally love storytelling. Our rich folklore is a testimony to that. There are also many ways that you can create and tell your own story. This is a chance to let loose and be kid yourself too as you and your child learn how to tell a story in the most animated way possible!

4. Give visual arts a try!

Simple drawing, coloring and crafts-making are always a big hit with children, but you can make the experience even better by making art together. Producing these little artworks will be a creative experience for the both of you. Watch your kid’s eyes light up as you take this artsy journey as a pair. It will surely be an experience neither of you will forget.

5. Compose a song together.

Of course, a Pinoy family bonding option that never fails is music. Make your bonding experience emotionally enriching by asking your child what he wants to sing about, and composing a song together! You don’t even have to be musically inclined to try it out. Bring out your old guitar or even just a pen and some paper. The song may not be perfect but your little one will definitely associate it to the fun you had while writing it. Fortunately, parents don’t have to look far for activities like these. PETA has organized a weekend ofbonding activities that the whole family can enjoy together! Mommies and daddies can take their kids to the PETA Theater Center to watch a show of Lola Basyang and attend a workshop of their choice. The workshop can be on Storytelling, Puppetry and Visual Arts, and Music and Rhythm.

Cap off summer with a fun and learning experience for both parent and child. Join us at the PETA Theater Center and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with your kids. Family passes are available for the Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang play and your workshop of choice. Book your tickets through Ticketworld (http://bit.ly/24tIu7w). The Pet Named Berry

The Super Momma 1:10 AM 0 Comments
It has been two weeks since I have been meaning to write this. This one deserves a blogpost so I can vividly recall the circumstances. So what happened really? Our dear Berry which my son fondly called already went to pet heaven. If you have been following me on instagram, I have mentioned that the kids got themselves a bunny pet from our Easter event. They got what they had been wishing for the longest time finally it was just so perfect.

For the first few weeks, they have been very excited about it, trying to pet Berry everyday but since they are still kids, they couldn’t keep up with the responsibility no matter how I try to instill in them. Plus, I have 7month old baby to take care of and tons of chores that needs to be done. Okay, not a good excuse though.

So the summer had kicked in and yes the heat was very unforgiving. Until one day we left and almost the whole day we were out and then the next morning, he was gone. My son has an idea what death is but my daughter couldn’t grasp it yet. I am somehow thankful for the shows my kids are watching because it won’t be that complicated to explain. I asked what happened to Berry and he said he died. Lifeless.

When it was about time to take him off the cage, he was incessantly asking us where we will put Berry and what is going to happen to him. Being the insensitive busy mom I am, I just answered him he will be thrown away. Honestly, it was a blurt of my big mouth because I was in the loo. Then my son walked out and hugged his pillow. I had no idea what happened and how things happened because my youngest and I was having a shower. Then there he was silently hugging his pillow until it dawned on me that he was sad and finally it sinked in that Berry left us.

He was crying when he was carried by my husband. That sob in movies that when someone left and felt it was really sincere. I felt sorry for him and I hated myself for what I had said. I was so insensitive for having said all those that I didn’t realize he really cared for the bunny.

It was the very first time it broke his heart. My heart was pounded into pieces seeing him cry like that. If only I could take back the life I would but then again, some may come and go. That is the reality.

The most awaited season has already began. Everyone has already been suffering from the scorching heat heat of the sun. Others already made plans on a summer getaway, we also must note that the season also means we need to take extra care of our skin. The heat index which reaches up to 42degreesC is no joke.

It was just timely that I was planning to buy my essentials when Nivea had their summer sale. I always loved Nivea’s products since I was in high school especially their sunscreen. Almost every year, they introduce new products which is tailored to cater the needs of every individual. I am so glad that this year, I was able to score more than enough of what I need this summer. In this post, I will share with you my Nivea Summer Skin Care Essentials.

Serum. This is quite new to me but they said serum is a thin consistency product which gets absorbed easily by the skin. It has SPF 25 which is perfect for everyday use. Even if I do not go out of the house everyday, I make sure to put on this product to protect my skin from UV rays.

In Shower Lotion. This is the very first time I heard about this. Then I began to ask myself, where was I all these time? Haha! This is heaven sent! My skin is prone to dryness and as a busy SAHM, time is essential to me. This product makes my skin soft, smooth and supple even if I just got out of the shower. It is like putting on lotion already inside the shower. This is genius!

Facial Sunscreen. Honestly, I don't like putting sunscreen on my face since it is very sticky! But because of the scorching heat, I don't want to compromise it. Their formula is less sticky which I like. Plus the SPF is quite enough to be applied under my make up despite the white cast it may give when taking photos.

Collagen Lotion. This summer we must have a skin care product which has higher SPF to protect ourselves from harmful UV. I picked up Nivea lotion which contains SPF50. Enough for me to protect my skin. Their formula right now is not as sticky as the products before, one reason why I do not like putting on sunscreens.

Deo Spray. I love their deos. I use almost all of their deo variants in roll on. But since it's summer, it means you will sweat alot, might as well use the spray variant which dries fast. Plus it is less sticky and won't stick on your clothes when sprayed. It will keep you fresh also for 48hrs, at least.

These are my Nivea summer essentials. What about you? Have you tried their products? Share you thoughts below!

When I started getting addicted to Korean skin care and make ups, I was on the look for a lip product which I can use everyday which can give a more natural glowing effect on my face. Until I saw from this local Filipina youtube guru who has been raving about this lip product. I ordered this product two months ago and included in my Althea haul. That giddy person in me tried it out immediately just because I had to.

Here are the reasons why I love this product:
  • Packaging. It comes in a clear glass tube which you can easily see and determine the color of the lip product. I love that it comes in a glass tube because it is more environment friendly. It also comes in a does foot wand for easy product application. The handle is heart shaped which I think is very cute.
  • Scent. I am very particular with smell I would rather the product not to have any smell at all. This one has a very sweet faint scent which is good because it is not too overwhelming.
  • Color Pay off. It is available in three colors. I got mine in red shade and I must say that I found a new favorite. The color pay off is excellent and the color is also build-able. If you want to rock that bold red lips, you can apply up to 4 layers of this lip product.
  • Light. This lip product is not very heavy on the lips. even if you layer it, you cannot feel anything to it.
What I don't like?
  • Tends to stain the teeth if you put a lot of product on the lips and swiped it on an inward direction.
  • Makes the lips dry. This is something inevitable to this one. Even though I have tried using this with lip balm, I just delay the time when it will settle on the fine lines as well as my lips gets dry.

Overall, I really love this lip product and will definitely recommend this to all mommies who are always in a rush. If you want to pop color to your face, you can just apply this lip tint and voila, instant glow! If you are also playful with your make-up, you can use this as cheek tint, so that is two in one product.
