Manila, Philippines – Every parent wants the best for their children – from providing the highest quality of education, all the way down to basic resources that he or she may need. Parents are always on the look out for everything and anything to equip their children to reach their full potential, and proper nutrition is no exception.

Recent studies show that 2 cups of milk is optimal for most preschoolers1. It is one of the best sources of Vitamin D and Calcium1 because it is composed of 3 basic foundation nutrients – Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats2. While these macronutrients are present in every glass of milk, the quality of the milk is not always the same.

A good balance of high quality foundation nutrients are needed to unleash the natural potential of every child. The best way to decode the nutrition puzzle is to understand these basic nutrients.

Carbohydrates are energy-providing nutrients. They can also be separated into groups based on the Glycemic Index, which measures how high and how quickly blood glucose levels change after eating carbohydrates. For a healthy diet, it is best to focus on high-quality carbohydrates or foods with low Glycemic Index, including dairy products like milk3.

Proteins are the building blocks of cells. They make up the framework upon which all cells are built. High-quality or complete proteins contain all the indispensable amino acids in the appropriate amounts needed by humans4. An excellent source of high-quality proteins is milk, whose major proteins are whey and casein, which are both excellent sources of all essential amino acids5.

Contrary to popular belief, not all fats are bad for the body. Fats play an important role, helping the body maintain its core temperature, absorb nutrients, and provide an alternate source of energy when carbohydrates are not available6. Fats can be classified into saturated fats and unsaturated fats. The healthier dietary fats are mostly unsaturated, which are further classified into Monosaturated fats, Polyunsaturated fats, and Omega-3 fatty acids7.

Promil Pre-School, trusted by generations, is formulated with Nutrissentials – high quality foundation nutrients such as unsaturated fats from plant-based oil, carbohydrates with lactose, and whey protein, which are sourced from the best of nature and strengthened by science.

Today, Promil Pre-School also contains DHA Omega-3, AA Omega-6 and Lutein to help brain development and promote a healthy vision.

Help your child reach his full potential with proper guidance, proper care, and proper nutrition. Nurture the gift with Promil Pre-School.
The holidays are just around the corner and with festivities like Christmas and New Year celebrations come food— lots of it.

Lechon, pasta, fried chicken, fruit salad, and cakes are only some of the usual dishes in most Filipino family’s holiday meal plan. We all know how hard it is to resist these delicious yet calorie-packed treats. So here are some tips to help you enjoy the holiday season while keeping the extra pounds away.

Eat breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so remember to jump-start your day with a hearty meal, especially on days you will be eating more. Depriving yourself of this vital meal can lead to overindulgence on calorie-laden treats that you will surely regret later on. Skipping breakfast can also lead to snacking throughout the day, which means eating more than you would otherwise.

Welcome the day with a slice or two of whole grain or multigrain bread. These have low glycemic indices (GI), which mean they are digested more slowly over a longer period of time than white bread. Add a bit of crunch to your bread by toasting it in the Electrolux pop-up toaster. Pair this up with a cup of freshly brewed coffee using the Electrolux coffee maker or maybe a hot cup of tea or milk when you quickly heat up water with the Electrolux electric kettle. Whip up a simple but hearty breakfast conveniently with the Electrolux Easy Sense breakfast set.

Bring your own healthy options

Bring a salad or a vegetable side dish when invited to a Christmas party potluck to make sure that there is a healthy option on the table. Instead of bringing fruit salad in milk and cream, indulge on mixed fruits in honey to satisfy your sweet tooth with less guilt. Keep all your vegetables and fruits fresh and crisp with the Electrolux NutriFresh™ 3-door refrigerator. Its middle compartment can be used as a crisper, chiller, or freezer depending on your party needs.

Hearty substitutes

With a little imagination and the right kitchen equipment, it’s not hard to cook healthier versions of your favorite holiday dishes. For instance, use vinaigrette instead of mayonnaise-based dressings for your salads. You can also add fruits and nuts to add flavour and texture to your salad. For cake frostings, you can use a fruit puree instead of the usual sugar or cream cheese frosting. All you need is a powerful blender like the Electrolux Powermix Silent Blender to ensure the right texture and consistency of your puree.

Healthy snacking

Holiday recipes like fried chicken and lechon kawali call for a liberal amount of cooking oil. Instead of deep-frying, try roasting with the Electrolux cooking range with electric oven and grill; this way you get to enjoy the same meaty goodness with significantly less oil. For your cookies, try using whole wheat or gluten-free flour for the batter. You can also sweeten it up with honey instead of refined sugar. Instead of buying from your trusty bake shop, you can create these treats for the whole family in one go using the Electrolux Inspiro built-in oven. This oven offers the same kind of flexibility that busy chefs require. It has a 74-liter capacity, offers up to 8 cooking programs, and allows multi-level cooking that lets you evenly bake a big batch of treats for your loved ones.

Year End 2014

The Super Momma 5:34 AM 0 Comments
We are now on the last month of the year. 12 months have gone by so fast that I didn't know it's already Christmas. Honestly, I haven't felt the holiday cheer yet in out home for one, I haven't put up the Christmas Tree yet and doesn't have the time to decorate the house to make it feel like it. My plan is to let the kids decorate the house with their artwork. Well, that will be on a separate post.

With all the hullabaloos that happened, there are lots of things to be thankful for. Sure there were frustrating moments but it made me realize a lot of things from it. It made me stronger and believe that there is rainbow in every storm.

So what am I grateful for?

My family. They have been my inspiration in whatever I do. To my children, who made me strong everyday and always make me a better mother. To Boboy, who continuously believes in my capabilities and supports me in every step of the way.

My friends. No matter how busy we have become as a parent to our kids, we still find time to listen to each others woes even in the virtual world. To those I have met through online community, I am very thankful that we share sentiments, thoughts and stories.

Sponsors/Blog Opportunities. To all the blog sponsors and those that believed in my honest opinion with their products, thank you so much. This blog promises to bring honest reviews and more product reviews and event promotions. From the bottom of my heart, I humbly thank you all.

These are some of what I am grateful for. They have taught and challenged me to be a better version of myself. Through them, I have learned a lot and swam through the rough waters of this world.

From our family to yours, have a wonderful holiday to all of you. Happy New Year everyone!

The most seasoned travellers can attest--it’s really the little things that make the biggest difference when you’re exploring new territory. A few upgrades here and there and the necessary nuisance of going through airport security or going for a long-haul journey becomes a breeze; you might even get a couple of perks along the

From coach to business class

If you want to get upgraded from your cramped coach seats up to roomier business class, then you have to dress the part. Sure a t-shirt and flip-flops might be comfortable for your flight, but the airline will be less likely to put you with their top paying clientele if you don’t look the part.

From deluxe rooms to suites

The only time tardiness might actually be worth something. Checking in later in the afternoon or even evening gives hotel front desks a better idea of their occupancy; which means asking for an upgrade at this point might be more feasible. Remember to be polite (you are boldly asking for an upgrade, after all) and do so when there are no other guests around.

From casual to cosmopolitan

It’s hard to be fashionable when you’re essentially trying to fit a week’s worth of outfits into a single suitcase while making sure they’re comfortable, but it is possible. For instance, bring flat shoes that run a half size bigger (feet swell while on air and you’ll need the respite from all that walking), bring clothes that you can layer depending on the weather, try to keep your color palette strictly basic—blacks, whites, navys and nudes are easy to mix and match.

From falling into tourist traps to taking the road less travelled

Smart travellers know that most popular tourist destinations are expensive and sometimes, not even all that interesting; so try going for the road less travelled. If you absolutely have to or want to go to a popular tourist destination, go on a weekday and at a weird hour to minimize lines.

From holding up security lines to breezing through

Here’s a quick tip on how to make sure you don’t bumble through the security checks—place your shoes (and coat) on the first bin, your laptop and liquids in the second bin, and your purse or carry on in the third. As you wait for your things on the other side, your shoes and coat come out first giving you time to grab your bag and place your laptop back inside. Also, it pays to not wear belts and thigh high lace up boots to the airport.

From being unprepared to staying healthy

Travellers who have to share cabin space with 100 other humans who could possibly have cough and colds have to arrive at their destination healthy. It’s no fun exploring a new city when you’re running flu, nursing a cold and dealing with a cough.

Before you go on a Vitamin C binge though, you have to know that it’s not advisable to double-up on your vitamin C dose. Our bodies our only capable of absorbing up to 400g, so anything more than that, will do nothing to boost protection for your immune system.

Instead, pop one capsule of Conzace to stave off germs and viruses from fellow passengers. Conzace multivitamins is proven to activate more immunity cells than plain Vitamin C.  And when your immunity is in top shape, you can better manage illnesses – allowing your body to prevent catching common viruses or recover faster if you do fall ill.

It’s available per piece and only for P12.40 per capsule, but when you’re trying to keep yourself healthy for a cross-Atlantic journey, you might as well keep a generous stock. Conzace is also easily available from all major drugstores and supermarkets over the counter.

Finally, here’s an added plus, the zinc and vitamins A, C and E, which all contain anti-oxidants, also help in maintaining great skin.
It has been years since I have an alone time with Boboy--3 years to be exact. Since I have been nannyless for the past years, it was quite impossible for us to have a date elsewhere.

But recently, I have discovered a comprehensive food service, which I can use so that date night will come to a realization. When I was browsing through food delivery and somewhat has this wishful thinking that somehow that date night will come to a realization that is where I came across foodpanda.ph.

When we tried it, I was so amazed how fast and food delivery can be without having to eat the usual take out food from usual fast food chains. Here are few citations on why you should try foodpanda:

Comprehensive List of Restaurants. They have numerous restaurants in their list that covers delivery in your area. The food won't be the usual fast food delivery but will depend on the cuisine of your fancy.

Fast delivery. For some restaurants, which offers fine dining experience, I am glad that they offer food delivery as well. The duration of the delivery is indicated on their comprehensive list in their website but it is quite surprising that food that I ordered which is expected to be delivered within an hour sometimes arrives earlier. Very promising indeed!

Easy to navigate app. Whether you are in the office or a sleepover, you can use foodpanda service wherever you go provided the area you are in is serviceable by the restaurants. You can still enjoy your favorite food at your comfort with few finger taps.

Confirmation of Orders. Personnel from foodpanda will confirm the orders you made should you have something you forget or made a mistake during the checkout. That way, there will be no room for mistakes.

Is date night your worry too? Fret not; foodpanda is at your service. Now I know the solution to our problem. Now, once in a while, I won't have to worry of dirty dishes.

"Happy tummy means happy family."

If there is one thing I would like foodpanda to have is that they would offer more food deals. I am sure many busy individuals will be more delighted to see their favorite restaurants offers good deals.
