S.A.H.M.

What could be the hardest job in the world? Is when you decide to become a mother. It is indeed also the highest paying job not monetarily but with the love you receive from your kids.

When I had my first born, I always say I would raise him according to how my mom raised us. But when he came, there are things that comes out naturally and as days goes by you will realize that in becoming a parent/mother everything is spontaneous no matter how you look up to other people's way of raising their children. Because every child is unique the way you raise your kids may work for some and may be a fail for others.

It has been two years since I became a mother and almost 9 months that I don't have a nanny and only me and my hubby are taking care of the kids. At first I still ask my relatives to look for household help as well as nanny for me to be able to work on the side. But when I had several nannies who are a failure and came to the point that they actually hurt my son right infront of my face, that's the time I finally decided not to get extra help. What will I do with the extra income I get if a nanny that hurts my kids? It's a given fact these days that price of commodities are sky rocketing but I guess all I need to do is proper budgeting, prioritization and think of something to compensate the costs.

Motherhood is never an easy task because it entails a lot of commitment plus the fact that you just don't function as a mother but also a friend, wife, daughter, sister you name it. As a SAHM (stay at home mom)/housewife you get to realize a lot of transformation from your life especially with me that once I was a career woman. These are the pros and cons ever since I became a SAHM.

PROS:

1.UNLIMITED LOVE from my kids. When I had a nanny for my eldest there came to a point when I got jealous. When he was about 10months old I was pregnant with my second child I could hardly move around and take care of him but I see to it I still manage his needs. There came to a point that my son looks more happy if he plays with his nanny and he would even call her if he asks for help not me. Right now, that I am fully dedicated, I get hold of his attention not anyone else.

2.You wouldn't miss a single MILESTONE. Every small thing is precious and important because you know you are the first to witness how they develop as a person. Every time I witness by babies tried to crawl, stand and utter new words I feel so happy and overjoyed.

3. HEALTHY FOOD. You will be able to monitor their food intake. Even though you tell your nannies to feed your kids with certain foods you mention, some others don't do as they are told.

4. CLEAN ENVIRONMENT. When you have babies inside the house, you ensure that you don't skip a procedure when cleaning because you don't want them to get sick because of unsanitary environment. I become more of a clean freak eversince I became a mom and especially when your kids are already curious of the things around them and when they are already trying to walk.

5. SAFETY OF YOUR KIDS. I ensure the safety of my kids inside the house especially during the stage that my kids are already trying to walk. When you have household help and you let them do everything they won't be able to identify the hazards in your home.

CONS:

1. CAREER.  I get to sacrifice my career growth and the bigger opportunities ahead of me.

2. BOREDOM. Yes I also get to joggle with it also especially when you don't have support groups.

3. FINANCIALS. Because I don't earn my own money, I don't get to spend the way I used to. I also have to budget the household expenses so my needs gets to be the least in priority.

This has been always what my mom usually tells me. "Someday when you become a mom you will understand what I am doing is for your own good." She was right. I could have never been so protective of my children, ensure their safety, good health and all the sacrifices I can think of just for them. AND I AM PROUD OF IT.

Till my next blog post. :)

ning
