Road to Financial Freedom

“Spendthrift” is my mom’s mantra for how she handles money. As soon as she started giving me monetary money when I was in 6th grade, she would tell me not to spend everything, especially on the things that I do not need. Thanks to my mom, I learned how to save in a piggy bank early on. But as I grow up, things change. I learned that to live a decent life, we need to work hard for the life that we want. But being a nurse in my country, the salary is not enough to feed our family let alone live a comfortable life. I have three children and pets at home. To sustain all our needs, I need to find ways how to earn in addition to what my husband is earning. I started to find ways how to earn passive income and a steady stream of income. Growing up, I know that once you graduate from college and earn a degree, you can earn a living. But there was a shift of mindset when I was exposed to the power of social media. Admittedly, it helped me open doors to many opportunities including learning di

Healthy Meals with GoodBox

Numbers and I don’t go well. We have this hate relationship that I didn’t overcome and gets worse up until I graduated college. So when I had my Nutrition and Dietetics subject in second year college, I really had a hard time and I  only passed just because I have to, and didn’t take the lessons by heart.

Little did I know that I would really need it until this very moment. In our course through healthy living I am really struggling to on how much calories we are consuming. I know we have been eating healthy (most of the time) but it is not controlled by what is really needed by our body.

In our busy times, we tend to opt for the accessible food, which is fast food delivery or instant meals. Now how do you maintain a healthy and balanced diet without the compromise? Recently, we were lucky to try goodbox. It is a healthy meal in a box delivered to your doorstep.

Goodbox is composed of a team of two chefs and a nutritionist. The nutritionist plans and calculates the necessary food intake while the chefs are in charge of how to make the food presentation appetizing.

If I were to plan our meal according to caloric intake of our family I would probably run out of menu to prepare and we would have the same meal over and over again. I am glad that we already have an option during our busy times and we can have our meal planned ahead of us.

Let me show you what I had from the GoodBox. This meal is 1200kcal in total, just what I needed to boost me the whole day.

Breakfast: (360kcal) Potato and Zucchini Fritata, Fruits and Orange Juice
AM Snack: (130kcal) Tomato and Basil Finger Sandwiches

I must tell you, the orange juice was so delicious as well as the finger sandwiches.

Lunch: (340kcal) Chicken and Capsicum Pesto Pasta, Vegetable Sticks and Dip
PM Snack: (120kcal) Oat cookies

The vegetable sticks were so crunchy and the chicken was so delicious!

Dinner: (250kcal) Roasted Pumpkin Couscous, Fresh Salad

The food is delectable and you won't even notice that the calories were taken into consideration. The presentation was good despite being in an airtight container and very convenient in a to-go box. However, come dinnertime portions of the Romaine Lettuce turned brown, which prompted me to eat it ahead of time. Overall, it is a perfect meal and I highly recommend it to health conscious busy individuals.
