Oral Care : Sansfluo Review

Oral care is essential in all ages even with our tots. This is for early prevention of dental carries with your child and is highly recommended to see a dentist when your child starts tooth eruption. They will guide you especially if you are a first time mom on how to do proper oral care with your child.

Little girl is on her 4th teeth eruption and was told by our family dentist, to use gauze lampin and water and rub it on her teeth. But I am not satisfied with it for some reasons. One is when I stick my finger inside her mouth gently to clean her teeth, I would always wrestle with her and she would end up crying. Major fail! Second, she has alot of appetite and eats everything I feed her so just like any adults when we don't use a toothpaste she would have unpleasant mouth odor.

Looking back, during the first time I did oral care with my son, I thought it was easy only to find out it was pretty hard. Aside from the first time I will do it with a toddler, everything seems to be wrong from the approach to the cleanser. Everyday it was the same until I finally gave up and look for an alternative option.

I asked around from my mommy friends of the tooth cleanser/toothpaste they use for their kids and tried them on but still to no avail. My first born would still cry and gave me an idea to try it on, boy it has an awful taste (now I know why)! I looked around from drugstores and saw sansfluo gel tooth cleanser, and tried it on. I bought a firefly toothbrush from Watson's which blinks with a single press from the button while brushing to encourage your tot to brush but ended up fail again! What he did was he would play with the toothbrush and didn't serve it's purpose at all!

Anyhow, I got Sanfluo tooth gel for my little girl and surprisingly they have a toothbrush already! I gave it a try and my first impression is it is pretty sturdy and can make it's way on her mouth and will make cleaning an ease for me. It is simple and wouldn't distract her from playing with it. True enough, little girl likes her gums be tickled with the bristles and she likes the tooth cleanser. It is a transparent gel like that doesn't have strong smell. It smells like fresh strawberry. But the downside to this toothbrush is that the bristles is too hard for a toddler. What I do is, I brush her teeth gently as well as her gums and tongue. Sansfluo gave me an ease with regards to the oral care to my kids. I am one happy mom! For full product description visit their website here.

Tips on how to do oral care with your tots:
  • Choose a good cleanser/toothpaste recommended by your dentist and toothbrush preferably with soft bristles.
  • Get the right technique. You show your tot how you brush your teeth so they can imitate you later on and do it independently.
  • Sing a happy song that will encourage them to do the brushing. Kids love to do it with accompaniment.
  • Explain to them why you need to brush your teeth.
  • Set a routine especially right after meals on when they have the need to brush their teeth.
Proper Care for toddler's teeth:
  • Eat balanced diet.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Avoid carbonated drinks.
  • Avoid high sugar content foods.
  • Brush their teeth gently to avoid bleeding gums.
